AIR TRAVEL TO GREEN BAY (GRB)
Air travel to the 2012 General Chapter is to the airport in Green Bay, Wisconsin (GRB). The name of the airport is Austin Straubel Airport. This is a regional airport. Flights to Green Bay are through other major airports in the USA. Austin Straubel Airport is located 5-10 minutes from St. Norbert College and St. Norbert Abbey. (When making your arrangements, please note that rooms at St. Norbert College, site of the Chapter, will be available at noon on Saturday, July 21, 2012. If you arrive earlier, you will have a room available at St. Norbert Abbey. The opening Mass for the Chapter will be celebrated at the Abbey at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2012. Buses will leave the college for the Abbey at 1:00 p.m.)
Transportation from the airport to the Abbey & College will be provided by the Associates of St. Norbert Abbey. (No courtesy transportation will be provided from other airports.) It is necessary that you forward your arrival and departure information to the 2012 General Chapter office prior to your travel to the Chapter.
The airlines serving Austin Straubel Airport include: Delta, American, United, Continental and Frontier. Flights are not direct to Green Bay. Flight connections on these airlines vary, with most connections through Detroit, Chicago or Minneapolis airports.
If you forward your flight information in advance, someone will greet you at a 'Hospitality Table' at the airport. In case of difficulty with your flights, you can take a taxi to the KRESS INN on the campus of St. Norbert College.
Rental cars are also available at the airport.
Visa Requirements
Welcome to the United States of America! As you make your plans to travel to De Pere for the 2012 General Chapter, you must check the United States visa requirements through the United States Embassy in your home country. Most United States embassies and consulates have United States travel and visa information on websites (Search "U.S. Consulate" and the name of your country.) Make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months after entering the United States.
Currently, 36 countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program, as shown below:
Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
If you are a citizen of one of the above-named countries, and any of the following applies to you, you are ineligible for the Visa Waiver Program and must apply for a visa.
- Want to remain in the United States longer than 90 days.
- Are a national of the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Republic of Korea, or the Slovak Republic AND DO NOT HAVE an electronic passport with an integrated chip.
- Have been refused admission to the United States before, or did not comply with the conditions of previous Visa Waiver Program countries.
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables nationals of 36 participating countries to travel to the United States for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. The United States Department of Homeland Security requires that all Visa Waiver Program travelers have a valid ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) registration for travel to the United States. For delegates traveling to De Pere for the 2012 General Chapter from countries other than those participating in the Visa Waiver Program, you will have to apply for a non-immigrant visa in the B visitor category. These delegates should consult the United States Embassy in your local country for step-by-step instructions on applying for a visa. ESTA is not required for visa holders. (One example is the Congo. Click here to consult the relevant website. As visa processing begins, there can be long wait times which vary from country to country. DO NOT DELAY IN APPLYING FOR YOUR VISA.
