Our brother Alan Scheible was born in Racine, Wisconsin, in 1943, joined the Order in 1961 and professed solemn vows in 1966. That same year he began theological studies at Heythrop College in England and ten years later, at Chicago Theological Seminary where he received his S.T.L.

Known for his sensitive pastoral ability to merge and close parishes, as pastor he closed St. Willibrord and St. Francis de Paola in Chicago. Alan also ministered to AIDS patients in Chicago and served on the faculty of the college. In 1998 he became the director of the Norbertine Center for Spirituality, where he initiated many social issue programs.

A brilliant, multi-interest and talented person, Alan died of a brain tumor on Sunday, January 30th, 2000 at the age of 57.
