Our brother Patrick Butler was born in Brokow, Wisconsin in 1901.  After graduating from St. Norbert High, he entered the Order in 1920 and was solemnly professed in 1925.  TheUniversity of Wisconsin awarded him an M.A. in English and History 1928 and a Ph.D. in 1930.

Succeeding Fr. Mike McKeough, Pat became the director of Camp Tivoli in Cecil, Wisconsin in 1930, having been the riding master there since 1927.  He remained director for 31 years. 

During the academic year Pat taught at the college, specializing in Shakespeare, and wowing his students with his knowledge of the man and his writings.  Beginning with World War II in 1941, he was made dean of the college.   After retiring at the college priory, he died on Friday, February 2, 1973 at the age of 72.
