Our brother Hubert Traeger was born in Shawano (SHAW-no), Wisconsin in 1889.  After graduation from St. Norbert High and two years at the college, he joined the Order in 1911, and professed solemn vows in 1916.  Two years later he was appointed assistant novice master and taught at the college.

In 1922, he earned an M.A. from Catholic Universityand was appointed novice master.  In 1928, he became prior of the abbey and continued as novice master.

With the opening of Southeast Catholic in 1934, Hubert was appointed principal and prior, where he remained until 1936, when he again became master of novices, this time at the novitiate inMadison.  In 1943, he was appointed pastor atSt. Josephin Alverno and chaplain to Holy Family Convent.

After a two-year illness, Hubert died of cancer on Monday, October 4th, 1948, at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc, at the age of 58.
