Our brother Siard Mickers was born in Gemert, (GAY-mert) Holland in 1854, vested at Berne Abbey in 1873, and solemnly professed in 1878; In 1893, Siard was appointed circator, master of novices and professor of theology at Berne to replace Bernard Pennings, who had come to the United States that year.

Immigrating to the United States in 1896, he took up the pastorship at St. Hubert in Rosiere, the 4th parish to be taken over by the Norbertines. In 1904, Siard became the first Norbertine pastor of Holy Cross in Bay Settlement.

In 1920, Siard was appointed chaplain of Our Lady of Charity Convent in Green Bay, where he died Wednesday, July 22, 1922, at the age of 68.
