Our brother Ludolph Jacobs was born in Bleidenstadt (BLEYE-den-shtat), Germany in 1901. After immigrating to the United States and receiving a B.S. degree from Marquette University , he joined the Order in 1928 and was solemnly professed in 1933.
Ludolph began teaching at the college in 1934, picked up a Ph.D. from Purdue in 1941, and resumed teaching until 1948. In 1948, he became administrator of St. Louis in Dykesville and oversaw the building of a new rectory.
After taking a leave of absence in 1953, due to illness, he retired from active ministry in 1955. He died on Saturday, November 13, 1971in Germany -at the age of 71. His body was returned to the abbey for burial.
