OBITUARY FOR FATHER ROBERT LOUIS HYDE, O. PRAEM.

Father Robert Louis Hyde, O. Praem., age 90, a member of the Norbertine Community of St. Norbert Abbey, De Pere, WI, and a Norbertine priest, passed into God’s eternal kingdom on Monday, June 25, 2007.

Father Hyde was born on December 16, 1916, in Green Bay, WI, to John and Veronica (Brill) Hyde.  His home parish was St. Patrick’s Parish, Green Bay , WI .

In 1935, Father Hyde graduated from West High School, Green Bay, WI.  He received a B.A. degree in Philosophy from St. Norbert College, De Pere, WI, in 1940.

Upon entering St. Norbert Abbey, he was vested as a novice on August 28, 1937.  He professed Simple Vows on June 18, 1939, Solemn Vows on June 15, 1942 and was ordained to the Priesthood on July 2, 1943.

Father Hyde was a member of the faculty at Southeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia, PA; Bishop Neumann High School, Philadelphia, PA, where he was also appointed Vice Principal in 1952 and served for three years; Catholic Central and Premontre High Schools, Green Bay, and Abbot Pennings High School, De Pere.  Father Hyde was the Founding Pastor of St. Norbert Parish in Paoli, PA., and served as Pastor at St. Martin Parish in (Tonet), Luxemburg , WI .  He served as Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Ransom Parish in Hingham, MT; St. John the Evangelist Parish in Essexville, MI; and St Willebrord Parish in Green Bay.  He also served as Pastoral Care Chaplain at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay .

Father Hyde is survived by the Norbertine Community; one sister, Alice (Wm) Bodilly, Green Bay, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, James, William, John Jr., and Thomas.
